It'll be held at UNSW (my uni XD)

Yay UNSB! i mean UNSW! (my uni too)

It feels like it was ages ago (last November xD)

Hmmm on a random note, Tales of Fantasia concerts are at it again.

It'll be held at UNSW (my uni XD) sometime in November. Could be fun :P

Ah yes HSC. It seemed like a long time since I did it *_* 2 years ago XO

Be assured, I am not over studying. More at the other end of the scale. The extreme end. xD

Whereabouts overseas? There are so many places where something like that is an option.

They don't consider any other options after the first one, whether you accept or not. Which I think sucks D;

I am going to be receiving an extra 5 UAI points anyway, so that's an advantage of living here. And the teachers aren't bad or anything. I don't feel that we are too much worse off compared to city schools.

I think my town thrives off the bikies that come through here. xD I've spoken to a German family who came through here once...

To be honest I'm not exactly sure what the course was now, I think it was a Bachelor Of Arts (not fine arts, just the English and social sciencey one). There are a few reasons I don't want to do it, money and transport are a slight issue but I also feel that even if I did go through to the end with it I wouldn't need/use most the things learnt in it with the things I want to do, it would only look pretty on a resume. I also didn't realise that if course options were to the same uni, you get into your first choice and they don't even consider if you could have done the other ones. I put arts first cause I thought it was the best bridge......to late to consider those things now. Next to that I'm already doing an English teaching course by correspondence and want to go overseas with that some time in the future.

An important thing to realise with the HSC and trials is where your school stands. I hate to be judgemental but there's a huge difference between 55% in an outback public school verses a 55% in a Sydney private school. I went to a half decent private school (not in Sydney) and my trial scores were much less than what my HSC one's where. You'll be fine so long as you put a bit of study in.....at the same time I urge you not to overdo it X-P

Tourists can be many things but where I live, half the businesses live off the tourists when they come. Half of Australia is probably in the same situation.

Dropped art because of a stressfully inane teacher who told us diffent stuff each lesson.. ><
Although that I'll get a decent one in reassuring.
Got about 55% for most things in the trials, so yeah... Not feeling too optimistic.

What university course, if you don't mind me asking. Mor eimportantly, why don't you want to do it any more? I want to do an international relations course at ANU. =D

Tourists are strange.

I do visit here, I do. I just really can't think of anything interesting to write. There are plenty of things happening in the country but I'm not greatly into sports these days and I'm not even sure what's happening with this election which I hear is this month.

Good luck with the HSC those who are about to face it. I didn't do so grand last year but I did get the uni course I signed up for (one that was deferred anyway). I don't think I'm going to accept the course anyway, I did get a letter saying the positions still open for me. If your doing extension English then your almost guaranteed a decent UAI (imo).....I dropped the extension part (two extensions actually) because of a dodgy teacher who drove me insane. You'll be fine, it's easier than people make it out to be.

btw I've also heard some English tourists saying how they'll pop up to Darwin for the weekend.

Quote by kokuyanot to interfere, but i heard that there was a plan to make Australia a republic. how true is that and do most Australians support it?

Yes, there was a referendum a couple years ago (1999 or thereabouts). We decided no. Am not sure (if I were old enough) what I would have went for.

Um, I think Kevin's gonna win, unless Johnny can capitalise on some new 'Children Overboard' affair again. Idiot <<

In other news... POWDERFINGER AND SILVERCHAIR'S ACROSS THE GREAT DIVIDE CONCERT WAS FANTASTIC! Infinately better ha the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Hey all. New member here, serious fan of so many Aussie rockers (including Grinspoon. And the above mentioned >w<), as well as anime. I live near enough to be in Canberra, and am highly amused when people (tourists) underestimate the size of our country (eg. 'Oh. I think I might pop over to Uluru for a nice day trip." <--- Actual example.)

Am going on to do my HSC this year with English (Advanced and Extension), Adv. Maths, Hospitality, legal studies, Modern history, and one other subject I think. I'll tell ya how badly I did when I get my results back, k? xD

Anyhoo, nice to meet ya all, Hopefully a little more life can be sprung into this group =D

@1) Oops! my bad!
@2) Of course it didnt come out of the mouth of indigenous person, people who are discriminated against on a daily basis are way less likely to discriminate against others? it be hypocritical if we did!

(NB -- though i am indigenous, and have had my fair share of dealings with ignorant people, I dont speak on behalf of everyone, i just tell it like it is)

Soooooo, election coming up........Being 18 I probably should know something about it right? (well I don't!) ... It doesn't bother me who wins and I figure being like the majority (and not REALLY caring) is easier. Call me lazy but politics don't really interest me at the moment.

Reminds me of that ep of southpark where they have to choose a new school mascot -- i.e. a giant douche-bag, or a turd sandwhich -- its true on many levels!

Random quote from my sister:

i just happen to walk pass by and therefore it's your fault X-P

Soooooo, election coming up........Being 18 I probably should know something about it right? (well I don't!) I think those fellas that are in there now are doing a fine job so we might as well leave them there, as far as I can tell other people would only do a worse job, then again I'm uninformed. The majority of people voting aren't properly informed on what each side is all about and will never bother to become informed. It doesn't bother me who wins and I figure being like the majority (and not REALLY caring) is easier. Call me lazy but politics don't really interest me at the moment.

*runs off in infinite speed*

I've heard various stories about trees toppled over on streets in Newcastle- my friend thankfully lives high up so she didn't have any damage- a tree fell over and hit their roof, but it kind of rolled off and left a dent lol.

Federal Election is coming up!
Any heads up on who will end up being the winner? ;)

I just thought I'd come here to give well wishes to the thousands of people from Newcastle, down the central coast all the way to Sydney and more who have been (and still are) being ripped apart and flooded. Anyone have any personal stories it would be interesting to read them, I find that the Pasha Bulker (container ship that was beached) is the most interesting. In my opinion the only way they'll be able to salvage the ship is to dismantle it on the shore. From what I saw if they tried to drag the ship back out to the water it would be ripped apart by rocks and sink completely. Not that any comes to this guestbook, but I'll be waiting to see if anyone else has been effected.

My area just avoided the major part of the storm so we haven't been to badly hit, also my house is on a hill so luckily the flooding wont effect us.

I just LOVE to hear my voice echo...echo......echo.........echo. I was thinking about planning to go to yet another eminence concert (but yet to be able to make it to one :(), this time it was the Destiny-Reunion concert. Anyone else had any plans to go?

Never mind, I changed my mind......getting there and staying alive would probably cost twice as much as the ticket. Also it's only a quintet which makes the extra costs probably not worth it in my case :(

Firstly, hearing that talk is yucky u.u

Globalisation has only made it possible for economies to grow and it's not a situation where it's "all for one". I don't think even humans could possibly survive if they were on just their own. (Well not really, but let's just pretend so XD) But if we were to disconnect ourselves from the rest of the world, we would probably have the following problems:

1. Be vulnerable to attackku if we were to be at war
(no kidding, with a very slow birthrate and a mass of space in a floating continent in a body of water, I highly doubt we'd last long. Unless you put out a bunch of crocs and trained a few sharks... if not ;))
2. See a Battle Royale within the country or Lord of the Flies... jk - more like we would have a closed economy which means the cash flow will continually be the same and our economy would then fall behind... consequences, consequences...
3. soon run out of resources if we didn't import from anyone
(this includes oil and all those nice fashionable garments and some designer labels you might love...) and hence have shortages everywhere.

Perhaps an overexaggeration (which is just the thing I wanted to do ;D) but I highly doubt Australia would survive on its own.

Well the whole $10 a week thing about hiring Chinese people- perhaps that $10 is vital for them to survive? That's actually quite a lot of money compared to doing many other jobs (yes it's hard work and the hours totally suck, but it's money and beats $0).

And finally, if Australia was going to be swamped with Asians and wipe out the "Australians", I would like to ask how "Australian" is defined. Seeing that the lady at the store was of white origin (ie. from Europe, ie the Northern Hemisphere, far far away from our great Southern Land...) and seeing that the country really actually belongs to the Aboriginals, what constitutes an "Australian"? One whose roots go back 3 generations living in Australia, holding Australian citizenship, being of Aboriginal origin, being patriotic to the nation, or speaking with an Australian accent?

The issue of nationality in such a multicultural country such as ours will never be drawn.

Yes, Asians will remain Asian no matter how you look at yourself in the mirror (yes I am Asian), but that does not mean that there are a lack of Asian Australians, because I know quite a few who enjoy this country, speak like Aussies and serve the country (through cadets, the army and other activities).

Well, I guess I'm ending this rant :P Not to say that my rant is conclusive and closes off any counter arguments. Feel free to counter attack! XD

Tales of Symphonia (?) is on pretty soon. Tickets are available at Kinokuniya (Sydney) and Ticketek if you're a Melbournean ;)

Signin' out! :D

State elections should be done online or computer based when they tick your name off the roll >:\

DON'T SAY THAT!......YOU CAN'T SAY THAT! Groups can actually be completely deleted now so we'll never have that kinda talk again! Well in another lost attempt to bring life back to the group I'm going to tell a story about a lady I had walk past me not long ago at work. I hope someone comments and says their thoughts, otherwise it's a nice look at ignorant people.

She was commenting on the fact nearly every item in our store is made in a different country and that "Australias a self supporting country, why can't it make it's own things". There were a number of comments that almost suggested Australia would be fine if it disconnected itself from the rest of the world. She happened to mention that "those chinamen who are paid $10 a week and work there hearts out" but more disgustingly said that the asians were taking over Australia and soon there wouldn't be any Australians left.

Now this statement was coming from a white woman with no hint of aboriginal blood and is just disgusting, it took all my effort not to slap down a customer in the store. If I'm not mistaken Australias economy is reliant on exports of raw materials as well as tourism in many places (where I live we are), although exporting more than we import sounds like we'll become very rich as a country, it actually means we'll have lots of money and no goods. I've always believed money is useless until you spend it X-P

As for buying Australian the common comparison is that the import is cheaper and generally the same, if not better, quality. Although we think of these chinamen being paid $10 a week as being ripped off and poor for many of them it's enough to keep them alive. If they can live off their $10 a week are they being ripped off or are we just greedy people? (please don't say we're not greedy.....oh please)

As a little liability note for anyone who does find this topic controversial these are examples and not completely literal and everything is subject to circumstance (although the lady at work actually said those things).

ON THE ANIME SIDE: Did anyone else hear that we're apparently suppose to get "Tales of Earthsea" before the Americans do!? Not common but hurray for us!

Thats it, I'm callin it...

9:15pm EST - 18th March, 2007.

Rest in Peace.

HSC finished, failed maths fiercely however should have gone well in everything else. Now I'm already working full-time casual! Wii just looks like a fad to me, I'm awaiting the PS3.....whether I'll be able to afford it or not I'm not sure, I did plan on moving out next year so really should save up for that. Gaming power is already satisfying, why go better than perfect, it's the game that matters. PS3 just seems to have a better potential for actual game titles, at least it has up till now.

Watching the eminence website?.....'Passion' is the next event to be seen. I would like to go to this one but not having my license and with my current record I'm not even going to lie about actually planning to see it.

*Pokes the dead group*

Ironically enough, i was going to fly down to see that concert but my the person responsible for buying the tickets didnt end up doing it... why? i dont know.... :( ahwells... How creepy would it have been if all of us had somehow crossed paths and not have known it till now?

spooky...

And another side note:

Who in Australia is looking at getting one of the new gaming consoles? A Wii or PS3? Which it be?

PS - Xbox is the suck. XD

I missed Piano Stories because my friend and I just came to uni one day and said "meh :\" >_< we were a tad too busy T_T
I don't even have a driver's license. In fact I don't even have my Ls. ^_^' Yes, smart XD

HSC~ that's about the right way to think about it :3
I only started working really hard towards the end when I suddenly had this ridiculous urge to get into Law (this was last year when I did my HSC). I decided that if I were to get into the course, the scaling would do a nice job and I would get in. I missed out by a very small fraction (for UNSW). The only other thing I wanted to do was Architecture and had I gone to USYD I probably would have got a scholarship, but instead I went to UNSW because I can walk there.

But the point is, the HSC is unpredictable- the key to success is consistency and or improvement. Luck for the remaining papers! :D

I LOST MY PARAGRAPH! start again

Well I missed Piano Stories IV (I really need to get my license) so anyone who went needs to comment now :nya: Also any comments at all would be nice to bring some life to this group.....maybe even a political discussion? (I say Australia should be harnessing nuclear power)

HSC IS ME! I should probably be studying now as english paper 1 is this friday however I've reached the point where I realise I really don't want to get good marks and a good UAI, marks and UAI are really only to get you into university and I don't think that's the way I wanna go. If I decide later I want to get into uni there's always another way but I feel if there's ever anything I really want to get/do I'll be able to achieve it.

*steps down from the motivation box*

Lol, I was gonna post about Piano Stories IV >_<

The website LittleJonny has already linked :P But if you live near Sydney, have a Saturday to spare (with a minimum of $25), get yourself online to order or go to Kinokuniya :P

It's on the 14th October 2006 and there are 2 sessions at 4pm and 7:30pm.

I'm not sure if I wanna go yet :P The good thing is that my second semester has just started so nothing is really due yet, so a few hours won't kill me. Depends if I can lay my claws... I mean... hands on some tickets. I'll come back later when I sort things out :3

I've never been to an anime convention before. But I had a few friends who did. They dressed up as Neon Genesis Evangelion girls (those uniforms) and apparently there were some with good costumes. Others just came in their casual clothes lol. Or maybe it was my imagination :\ It was too long ago and I can't remember what they said anymore. *sigh*

Ahhhh yes. It's HSC season once again. Time really does fly *_* It was not long ago when I finished my HSC :\

Perhaps this group is a little on the quiet side. We just need a topic to discuss or something.

I live too far away from all the conventions so somebody (a really kind person) could include a small description of what one is like. I've really only seen a few seconds on a promo DVD, which was scary enough - they showed an hairy older guy cos-playing a sailor moon outfit X-O. So now cos-play is something rather scary to me, seriously just picture it a hairy (typical bikey gang guy) guy with tattoos wearing a sailor suit.

Naruto is scheduled to start showing on Cartoon Network from the 27 of this month so in 5 days. If you miss the premier episode you should come to this group more often XD.
